St John’s, Antigua (6th July 2010) –  An open door climate change summit is in the works for the residents of Antigua and Barbuda as the 49th Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show committee continues to build momentum towards its highly anticipate production on Friday 30th July 2010 at the Antigua Recreation Grounds starting at 8:00pm.

 

“Integrating the Caribbean through Pageantry - Embracing the Effects of Climate Change” – as the themed focus of JCI Antigua’s 49th production of the Jaycees Queen Show; has prompted the Climate Change Summit, which will be held on Wednesday 14th July, 2010 at the City View Hotel Conference Room on Newgate Street, starting at 8:30am to 12:00 noon, with light refreshing being served.

 

The summit will be hosted in conjunction with the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG) and the Antigua & Barbuda Waste Recycling Corporation (ABWREC), key environmental advocacy groups in Antigua & Barbuda and partners in the 49th Jaycees Queen Show production. A host of key speakers have already been confirmed including Mr. Brian Challenger, Ms. Diann Blacklayne and Mr. Ashton Williams who will be available to the public to answer questions and engage in informative discussion to everyone in attendance about Climate Change on our world and its effects in particular on Antigua and Barbuda today.

 

The Climate Change Summit is primarily geared at promoting a greater awareness to the public about the very important topic of Climate Change both nationally and regionally, and the effects it can and has had on their lives; acting as a build up to the twelve (12) island delegates who will be showcasing their talent, culture and beauty on stage for the crown of Ms. Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2010 and the chance to become JCI Antigua’s first ever Climate Change Ambassador to the Region.
