The EAG is playing an important role on a Government committee planning and implementing the Mount Obama renaming and protected area development project.

The  renaming ceremony was on 4th August, the birthday of U.S. President Barack Obama. Kim Derrick and Brian Cooper represented the EAG and provided a “virtual” climb up the mountain in 2 IT Buses that accompanied the event. A shortened version of the “Virtual Tour” can be seen here.

This is a very important project for Antigua and Barbuda. This beautiful wilderness area will hopefully become recognised for what it is - one

of the natural wonders of the Caribbean. At the summit, on a clear day hikers are rewarded with views of Guadeloupe, Montserrat, Redonda, Nevis and even Saint Kitts.  There are exceptionally beautiful views from the summit.
