Witness the magic of watching between 100 to 150 tiny sea turtles emerge out of the sand and clamber towards the sea with the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG).

Nesting season for the Hawksbill turtles runs from approximately June through October. We will be leading our turtle tours to an offshore island every Friday starting July 16th for the entire nesting season (through October). Beginning at 7pm, the tour includes a short and beautiful boat ride, followed by 2.5 hours of beach patrol. Sights can include hatching baby Hawksbill turtles, or witnessing a mother climbing up onto the beach to lay eggs. Two experienced researches will accompany the tour, providing interesting facts and best practices for recording data.

Learn the interesting facts: did you know that the incubation temperature of the turtle egg determines whether the offspring is male or female? A warmer temperature will make the egg female.

The cost of the tour for EAG members is $30/adults, $25/children, and for non-EAG is $50/adults, $45/children. “It’s an experience you’ll never forget!” Space is limited.

Call 462-6236 or email eag@candw.ag now to make your booking.
