The EAG hosted a field trip on 19th September in Nelson's Dockyard National Park followed the trail from Galleon Beach to Fort Charlotte and Carpenters Rock, then up to the Lookout Area and down Jones Valley and back to Galleon Bay.

Around 25 nature lovers hiked the trail through wooded ghauts and rocky coats and steep hill climbs.

Using the EAG “Guide to Plants and Historic Sites on the Trails” which were provided to those interested in learning about our native flora,  the group saw and learnt about 80 species off plants, some very rare.

We also saw  areas which have been badly eroded and deforested by grazing goats, but overall the trail was surprisingly  green despite the dry conditions.
